First Lady Fazna Ahmed today paid a visit to the Carter Burden/Leonard Covello Senior Program in New York City, as a part of her ongoing trip New York City with President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih for the 76th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

The First Lady inquired regarding the programmes held at the senior centre, speaking with the management of the centre regarding similar programmes that may be initiated in the Maldives.

The Carter Burden/Leonard Covello Senior Program is one of New York City’s Innovative Senior Centers that provides socialisation, recreation and education. The program is curated for individuals above 60 years of age, offering a wide array of daily activities including art workshops, health and wellness programmes and a caregiver resource programme. The centre also partners with other community-based organisations to provide health services, educational workshops and lectures on health specific topics.

First Lady Fazna was accompanied at the visit by the Special Envoy for Climate Change, Sabra Ibrahim Noordeen.
