The Government of the Republic of Maldives and the Government of the Co-operative Republic of Guyana signed the Agreement on Mutual Exemption of Visa Requirements, today. The Agreement allows for the exemption of visas for single or multiple entry for both countries' nationals, for a period of 30 days.

Both Governments also signed the Memorandum of Understanding on Political Consultations, to establish a framework for expanding cooperation and exchanges in areas of mutual interest.

The agreements were signed on behalf of the Government of Maldives by Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Khaleel, and on behalf of the Government of Guyana by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Hugh Hilton Todd.

During the discussions following the signing ceremony, State Minister Khaleel expressed his gratitude to Minister Todd and the Government of Guyana for the commitment towards enhancing the cooperation between the two countries and desire to continue to explore new avenues for collaboration. State Minister Khaleel also expressed hope that the signing of these agreements will deepen the engagements and facilitate greater people-to-people contact.”
